Volunteerism

Rukshan Para began volunteering at the age of 9 when he carried bread and milk for seniors. Rukshan Para continues to eagerly give back to the community in various capacities. “Volunteering helps me strengthen the community, create bonds, and develop social responsibility. I understand the need for volunteer services in the community, especially the valuable work that not-for-profit organizations provide to the community.”

The Ontario government awarded Rukshan Para with the June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Volunteerism. This award was to recognize Rukshan for outstanding contributions as a volunteer in the community and for being a changemaker. He was also a recipient of the Ontario Volunteer Service Award in 2019, and the recipient of Men of Honour in 2019.
